RUN4RON at the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon

Ron Pickering Memorial Fund has filled all places for 2018 event

The Ron Pickering Memorial Fund (RPMF) only has a limited number of places available for those who might like to ‘Run4Ron’ at the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon and as of November 1st, 2017 all of those available places have been filled for the 2018 Marathon.

The RPMF supports many of Britain’s most talented young athletes with financial grants totalling tens of thousands of pounds every year.

Such is its impact, that the majority of the British athletics Olympic teams in 2008, 2012 and 2016 had at some stage in their careers received support from the Fund, including all of the London 2012 and 2016 individual Olympic athletics medallists.

Since inception, the RPMF have supported and distributed some £2 million in small but significant grants to over 3,000 talented young British athletes ranging from 15 to 23 years of age.

Each award is designed to make a difference.

A key source of fundraising for the RPMF is via money raised by ‘Ronners’ taking part in events such as the Virgin Money London Marathon. Each year Ronners raise 10’s of 1,000’s of £’s for the Fund running the London Marathon alone.

Would you like to Run for Ron in 2019?

We only have a limited number of Virgin London Marathon Golden Bond places available and being a small charity, we rely heavily on the funds raised from this event. To ensure those wishing to run for us are serious about fundraising, we ask interested Ronners to complete an application form.

If you’re confident you can raise at least £1,500 (including your £100 registration fee) by running the marathon in 2019 and wish to support the next generation of British athletics talent, then please complete and return our application form.

Many of our Ronners have previously run as a training or corporate group. For those wishing to run as a team of at least five, ideally sponsored, then please contact us at for more information.
