2020 RPMF Grant application is now open!October 2, 2019
Young athletes looking for support from the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund in 2020, can now apply for a Grant using the online application process which can be found on our “Applying for a Grant” page here:
Each year we receive hundreds of applications so we shall leave the application open until November 30th, so everyone has plenty of time to apply for a grant, and there can be no excuse for leaving it until the last minute! We shall not be accepting applications past the midnight deadline under any circumstances, as once we receive all the applications the Trustees of the RPMF have quite a task to go through and review every athlete thoroughly before the lengthy task of making the selections for the lucky recipients.
We cannot help everybody, as our funds are limited, but we try to help as many as we can each year, and particularly those where we feel we can have the biggest impact with our support. We are looking always for a combination of need and talent and a continued development within the sport.
Last year we were able to award 225 RPMF Grants, totalling over £45,000, to young athletes aged 15 to 23. The impact of these grants can be seen in the fact that within the Great Britain Teams as major senior and age group events such as the Doha2019 World Athletics Championships, or the European U20 or U23 Championships held in Sweden earlier this year, between 60% and 70% of the athletes selected have been supported by RPMF at some point in their development.
Even such superstars as Dina Asher-Smith, Adam Gemili and Laura Muir, and emerging talents such as Niamh Emerson and Josh Zeller, have been the recipients of an RPMF Grant as young athletes. If you want to follow in their path then make sure that you apply for a Grant this year.
