Sophie Papps – May 2015: Looking forward to getting back on trackMay 29, 2015
Jean Pickering Olympic Scholarship recipient Sophie Papps updates us as she rehabs following surgery
With the start of the summer season soon approaching or underway for some people, I’ve just been re-joined by my group who after a successful training camp in the USA have put some life into the training party!
Although after surgery my season is not starting quite yet I’m really enjoying working on other things, perfecting my gym routine, my technique and overall strength. It’s been a great few months of progress in my rehab, having worked so hard for the last four months it’s amazing to start seeing the results even if it’s not the finished product yet. I’ve started to run more frequently and am lifting heavier weights in the gym, which is all very positive as we were not sure after surgery when I would be able to do this.
Having a period of injury has been tough but the support has been great, especially knowing that not only do I have my team behind me but I have everyone at the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund behind me too, as well as all of those amazing people that ran the marathon and all those that supported Run for Ron.
I’m looking forward to watching as much athletics as possible over the coming weeks and really getting behind my group and of course everyone supported by the RPMF! Hopefully I’ll see you all back on the track soon!
